Address to the Serbian Mission

Welcome honorable guests, proud representatives of the heroic motherland Serbia! Every Serb in free America today greets you with pride in the name of dignified American people, as each of them feels that these people greet you as honorable representatives of the small and suffering yet heroic Serbian people. Today, every Serb in America feels that this free Republic sees in you representatives of the people whose spirit and soul are a role model for the whole world. It sees in you the representatives of those heroic people who have fought for hundreds of years and heroically died for the self-determination and democratic equality principles. What has recently been presented to the world as a new and eminent principle, Karadjordje and his heroes carried in their heads and hearts and fought for its establishment and heroically won that fight. That is exactly the faith and principle that wore and wears in Serbia the most renowned royal crown and against which a German, Hungarian, Bulgarian and Turk fights. You are the leaders in this world revolution against the barbarians of the twentieth century and today the whole world acknowledges that your fight is just so they join you in that fight as a true ally and fight for the same principle you have fought for hundreds of years. Today America greets and respects you as the representatives of such people, and we, American Serbs and members of the Association of United Serbs “Sloga” salute you: “Welcome honorable gentlemen, representatives of our heroic brothers who make us proud today. We wish you the greatest and well deserved success in your work.

Mihailo I. Pupin
President of the Association of United Serbs “Sloga”
